In this article, we will discuss the cards that could be changed or forbidden at the end of the month.
This article will continue to be updated until the official banlist is published.
It is important to remember that everything mentioned here is only speculation; nothing in this article is official until the banlist is released.
Thousand-Eyes Restrict to 0
Metamorphosis is a very interesting card, as it allows access to a wide variety of monsters, such as Dragoon or different negation monsters, and that is something positive.
Scapegoat is also a useful tool for buying time. The problem arises when both cards are combined, as they provide access to an extremely oppressive monster.
Not only does it allow players to remove one monster every turn, but it also creates game states where the duel stalls for several turns.
For that reason, after nearly six months of evaluation, the decision was made to forbid this monster without affecting either Scapegoat or Metamorphosis.
D.D. Warrior to 1
D.D. Warrior is a very powerful card in this format, especially in an environment filled with Graveyard-based effects. With its inclusion, it often felt as if players effectively had access to up to three copies of D.D. Warrior Lady.
For that reason, we have decided to limit it to 1. After all, it is still searchable, and alternatives like D.D. Assailant remain at 3.
Smashing Ground to 2
This card is heavily used in the format, so we will leave it at 2. Even so, don’t worry—there are still many similar Spell Cards available in the format, such as Fissure, Soul Taker, and even Hammer Shot.
The Seal of Orichalcos to 2
This card has not changed the meta and is not seeing much play, so it will be moved to 2, and perhaps in the future it could go to 3.
Survival's End to 2
We are going to experiment with this card at 2 copies for a season/month.
Soul Taker from 1 to 2
This card sees almost no play, so we are going to gradually move it off the list.
Lion Alligator to 3
This card poses no threat to the format.
Frost and Flame Dragon to 3
A card that arrived too late into the game.
Desert Twister to 3
Same case as the card above.
Elemental HERO Woodsman to 3
The final support for HERO decks. After this, we will no longer add HERO monsters or support cards.
Twister to 3
This Quick-Play Spell has proven to be quite healthy for the format. During this season we will test it at 3 copies, and if we detect any abuse, it could be limited back to 2 in the future.
