Changes to the Banlist (Cambios Recientes en la Banlist)

I would like to talk a bit about this format.

As you may have noticed, the goal of this format is to highlight several Level 4 monsters that were rarely or never used.

My intention is to keep the format balanced. Even when these monsters have effects, those effects are mostly irrelevant within the GOAT and SEMIGOAT metagame.

For example, Volcanic Rocket is essentially just a 1900 ATK vanilla monster here. Even though it has a search effect, the card it searches does not exist in GOAT.

With that premise in mind, I will now explain the recent changes.

Changes to the Limited (1) List

Dragon's Mirror

This is a card that is not very useful in the opening hand and is rarely used effectively in this format.

It was added mainly to give some support to decks that are not commonly played here, such as Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes.

Similarly, some Fusion Monsters that were not originally part of GOAT were added, such as Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon and Meteor Black Dragon.

Exarion Universe

A card that arguably should have always been part of GOAT. No further explanation needed.

Miracle Fusion

Playing HERO decks in Goat is one of the hardest things you can attempt. Their fusions are weak, and you usually spend three resources to summon a monster that still dies to Bottomless Trap Hole, Smashing Ground, or Sakuretsu Armor.

Because of that, allowing Miracle Fusion at one copy seemed like an interesting change that could make a real difference.

However, I do not plan to introduce Neos, Neo-Spacians, or the rest of their support.

Monster Reborn

It is interesting how useful a card like this becomes in the format. It also encourages players to stop relying on Call of the Haunted.

Red-Eyes Fusion

This card forces you to include Level 5 or Level 7 monsters in your deck, and it balanced at one copy.

I believe it will be fun to see how players experiment with it.

I also do not plan to introduce negation monsters such as Red-Eyes Slash Dragon The main goal is simply to make summoning the Skull and Meteor fusions possible.

Changes to the Limited (2) List

Elemental HERO Wildheart & Tenkabito Shien

At first it seemed interesting to release these Trap-immune monsters.

However, after several tests it became clear that they were not very relevant to the format.

Their low ATK makes them easy to remove, and most players prefer to run a 1900 ATK monster instead.

For this reason, both cards were moved to 2 copies. They may even be moved to 3 in the near future.

Changes to the Unlimited (3) List

Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon & Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon

These are cards that arguably should have always been legal in GOAT.

Anyone who manages to summon them deserves respect, because doing so is extremely difficult.

Meteor Black Dragon & Meteor Dragon

As mentioned earlier, these cards mainly serve as additional support for Blue-Eyes.

Interestingly, they arrived in the TCG more than 10 years after their release in the OCG. The movie came out in 1999, so it is surprising that they reached our side of the game so late.

Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon & The Winged Dragon of Ra

The three Egyptian Gods should have been released much earlier, alongside the original anime.

Allowing them in GOAT is an interesting experiment. In reality, they are not particularly strong—after all, you are tributing three monsters just to summon something that still dies to Smashing Ground.

Toon Dark Magician Girl

The Toon deck struggles heavily because it loses to a single Mystical Space Typhoon.

At least with Toon Dark Magician Girl, the archetype gains a little extra support.

X-Saber Anu Piranha

A simple 1800 ATK Warrior monster.

In practice, nobody ended up using it, since EARTH decks already have stronger support options. Therefore, he was moved to the unlimited.

That's all for now. See you in the next Banlist.

Dragon's Mirror

Elemental HERO Wildheart y Tenkabito Shien

Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon y The Winged Dragon of Ra.

Toon Dark Magician Girl
